or

Selected Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Note: the Cinderella stories have been made available through ebooks held by the Meriam Library and the Sherlock stories are in the public domain and can be found through Project Gutenberg. However, you will not have to go hunting for anything as I will provide easy access to everything through the course site.

Choices for Unit 2: Elizabeth Bennent & Mr. Darcy or Victor Frankenstein & The Creature

Pride and Prejudice by Jance Austen

or

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Note: both novels are in the public domain and can be found through Project Gutenberg. However, you will not have to go hunting for anything as I will provide easy access to everything through the course site.

Choices for Unit 3: Sun Wukong, the Monkey King or Shahrazad, Queen of the Cliffhanger

The Monkey and the Monk: An Abridgment of The Journey to the West

Translated by Anthony C. Yu. An abridgment of Yu’s 4-volume translation of The Journey to the West by Wu Cheng’en

or

The Arabian Nights: Tales of 1,001 Nights: Volume 1

Note: since these are relatively recent translations, they are not in the public domain, nor are there ebook editions available through the Meriam Library (though they do have a physical copy of Lyons’ translation of The Arabian Nights). Therefore you will be responsible for acquiring access to your chosen text.
